Espressohead poisoned me with butter!
Last week, on Friday, Lizzie and I went to Brisbane to sleep over at our new apartment as our new furnitures would arrive between 6-8 am in the morning; and we were about 3h away.
When we woke up on Saturday morning we decided to have a walk after our furnitures were delivired and have lunch a cafe.
We found a cafe called, Espressohead. They had a “vegetarian” lunch that had butter and eggs in it.
If I’m not wrong, that is lacto-ovo vegetarian, right?
Any who, we told the waitress that we wanted the “vegetarian” lunch without egg and butter on the toast.
We we finally get served the damn toast has butter on it and the mushrooms are fried with butter too.
We call the waitress over and tell her about the cock-up. To scare them a bit I tell her I’m allergic to milk (as it is easier than to having to explain what IBS is), and also tell her again we can’t have any butter in the dish. Then she has the nerve to say: “Oh, I thought you only ere vegan.”
As it was early in the morning I was flabbergasted with silence when she said that, but Lizzie can verify I was chucking a huge tantrum as they prepared a “vegan” lunch for us.
I’m never ever going to Espressohead again. I have experience in the food service business, as I studied it for two years, so I’m probably a lot more qualified than that useless waitress). Serving someone something they specifically asked not to have is a big no-no; being rude about it is a even bigger no no.
As someone with IBS and has a high intolerance for dairy products this is not good. I was just nauseous for about an hour, but in the end it shouldn’t have happened at all.
As a vegan I felt disgusted, violated and poisoned with tortured animal products inside me.
