Facebook should also be known as Passive-Aggressive Gossipbook.

For some odd reason I have this stupid urge to share my thoughts  and random information I come across online. I have no idea why, but I get this odd pleasure from writing down my opinions. It would be wrong calling myself insane, as I would then probably call other writers insane too.

Still I try to safeguard my privacy when online, which is why I still write using a pseudonym (xen yasai). The irony behind my pseudonym is that people think I am Asian. Which is rather amusing.
So joining Facebook was something I did with a large amount of scepticism; because it is intended to use your real name.

I have never felt comfortable using my real name online; and searching for it you will not find me, as it can be rather generic actually. It is all smoke and mirrors.
On Facebook I have set all the privacy settings to 100%; and I have even turned off the wall feature.

Facebook to me has been kind of interesting as I have connected with a few old friends; but we still are as quiet as we were before Facebook, so the connection seems more like nostalgia than useful.
Someone said that ‘Facebook is for people who do not understand Twitter’. Which is kind of true. It is a constant stream of nonsense and self-indulgence.
Fair enough, Twitter can also be filled with nonsense and self-indulgence; but it has a higher ratio of interesting information and intellectuals (at least that is my experience).

Based on what I hear from other users, Facebook seems to be this awesome social networking site for passive-aggressive people. It is sad though and no wonder why companies scan through Facebook. Judging by what some write and express on Facebook I would never hire those people.
It is not just a nice gathering place for passive-aggressive people though.

Facebook is perfect if you want to spy on your friends or family. Especially if you enjoy taking what people write out of context and making up your own assumptions. So it is also a great place for people who love gossip and talking behind someone’s back.

Fair enough though, people will do that if you maintain a blog and if you are on Twitter; but Facebook seems, sorry if I offend someone, a bit more low-brow and prone to this behaviour.
I guess Facebook is for those who still do not know how to use Twitter, write well enough to maintain a blog, understand email etiquette and have no clue about what privacy is. Yes, far too many Facebook users think that just because they enjoy giving the world full access to their life, everyone else should enjoy that too; if you do not, you are a paranoid stranger.

I guess what I am trying to say is that you might just call a person instead or just send them an email to get all the facts before you start making things up. If you are not mature enough to do that, I suggest you might consider either becoming more mature or staying out of the life of the person you spread rumours about.
