Watch out for the sea-zombies!
Have you ever seen or heard about the sea-zombies? They are in fact real-life zombies that walk among us now as I type. They are luckily not after your brain, but they for sure look like they need one. You will only see them at the beach, walking around aimlessly in the water.
These sea-zombies are perfectly normal human beings when on land, but the theory is that when they come in contact with salt-water something happens to their brain; it is as if their brain completely shuts down, except their ability to move.
The have a very distinctive patterns and behaviours. If you learn to spot them you can be vigilant and stay safe when you are bodyboarding or surfing; as they seem to be attracted to bodyboarders especially.
What happens when they instantly come in contact with water is that they start to move towards the waves, especially the bigger ones that are outside the flags where bodyboarders and surfers are located. They seem to be oblivious to the danger of standing right behind someone with a bodyboard; even if you almost “accidently” hit them while riding a big wave.
You want of course to spot them before they are right behind you so you are the sea-zombie will not end up in an “accident” or a fight. One way is to look for people walking towards you that is not carrying a bodyboard or a surf board; these sea-zombies will look kind of lost. You will also tell from their look on their poor sea-zombie face. They tend to breath through their mouth and have a very empty and lifeless look on them. You will also notice that if you look straight at them they will have this empty stare.
As these people become sea-zombies only when they come in contact with water it is very questionable to kill them; as we all know that all zombies must be killed when spotted. This very difficult question is something UN is taking care of now and we can only hope they will find a cure or a solution to remove these annoying sea-zombies to make going to the beach more enjoyable for everyone else that is not affected by the salt-water.
I had a few incidents with these sea-zombies today. Two of them seemed to be the worst sea-zombie cases I have ever seen. One of them surprised me when I was trying to catch a wave, and that made me panick panicked, so I ended up getting severely dunked by the wave; dragging me down to the bottom. The other sea-zombie seemed to have lost all common sense as he did not seem to care if I almost bodyboarded right in to him several times.
As the humidity is very high it might be right to say the usually sarcastic expression: “There might be something in the water.” The worst sea-zombies is in the water, but based on at least the driving skills of certain people here it might also affect people on land that are sensitive to whatever makes them into a mindless zombie.
Be vigilant, as we do not know if these sea-zombies will eventually turn on you. So far they are harmless, but you never know when that will change.
