If you do not like the iPad, do not get one and shut up about it! [updated]
Apparently Apple has released a new product called the iPad. At first glans it looks like an oversized iPod Touch; which might be useful, as I do find the small screen a bit annoying sometimes. What it really is and does is not really that interesting to me at this stage, so this article will not be filled with speculations on what the iPad can do and what the next generation iPad will be. It will be about these annoying anti-Apple zealots that is flooding my Twitter feed.
I have never been a big fan of Microsoft and I have told people why, but in the end I try to ignore the negative and focus on the positive by telling people why I use Fedora (Linux) and why it works for me. Giving your point of view is important of course, but when that point of view stops being constructive you should stop talking.
Most of the “complaints” I have read today is really close to being just juvenile. It has come to the point where it would seem to be valid to stop buying a certain brand of car because they have cars with a certain colour.
If you do not like it, shut up and do not buy it!
I used my iBook G4 for four, or even five, years and I loved it. In the end I felt a bit locked in, but instead of whinging and moaning I just got myself an Eee PC and installed Fedora on it. I am still a happy user of Fedora, but I still respect Mac OS X; I see no reason why I should go on a rant why Mac OS X did not suit me in the end.
It is of course important to highlight what might be bad with a product, but in the end people are more interested what is positive with that product. Not to mention your criticism not to be based on facts and not assumptions.
Do not forget that some actually said that the first iPod would be a failure. Was it? Some also said that iTMS would fail. Did it? So before you laugh and mock the iPad, hold that laughter and wait to see how it goes; because you might be the one being laughed at in the end.

I forgot to mention that if you do not like product, find a product you know you will like and promote that instead. Constantly talking about something, negative or positive, is free advertisement. It is more hurtful to promote a competitors product.
Of course, if that product do not exist, and your ideas are so much better, make it yourself.
