Live Tweet — update every 60 seconds?

I am really not a morning person, so my actions that particular morning (when I wrote this article) might have been a bit hasty. On the other hand they might not have been as I do not regret my decision unfollowing someone on Twitter.

Apparently there is something called live tweeting; which is when you tweet about what you are doing right now as it might be of interest to your followers. From what I could find out about it, it is done mostly when bloggers and journalists go to certain conferences and such.

One of my followers decided to live tweet something from a newspaper that morning. Fair enough, might be a bit funny; I hoped. I did not find it funny at all as my time-line was flooded with updates almost every 60 seconds.
Being the grumpy person I am in the morning I fired off an annoyed, but not too rude, tweet informing that person I could care less about the given warning and that I also considered to unfollow. I could not care less about a response at that time so I just unfollowed that person.

You would assume that by now most people understand that flooding the twitter time-line is mostly considered very rude and annoying, right? Of course, there is always someone out there who has to push the line or be the one totally oblivious to what is going on online.

What I did find amusing though is that many of the other followers who also complained found it okay when they later were told they were warned earlier. Suddenly being reminded that they had been warned it was not an issue anymore. I wonder if that works in real life? Can I approach someone on the street, tell them I am going to pinch their bum and do so; then tell them that they were warned and could not complain about it?

This is one of many things that intrigues me with the Internet. In certain situations you have strict etiquette you need to follow to be accepted, but in other situations people think they can do what ever they feel like and everyone who opposes them are wrong.

In real life, the thing I’ve seen a lot of lately is to say offensive/insulting things, then your “apology” is to say, “I’m sorry if you got upset by what I said.” That way the recipient of the insult is supposed to believe they were just being too damned sensitive!

Ah yeah, I have experienced that one. These things really annoys me. Sure, I am genX, but I still feel that you should questions things but still have common courtesy and good manners; in other words, respect the people around you. We still live in a society.

This is why, I think, we have the term ‘political correct’; because people stopped respecting each other.
