Various social commentaries; also known as random observational rants.

Yesterday I came across the wonderful The Humble Indie Bundle (five days left!), which resulted in me spending most of my day playing World Of Goo. What is more amazing than the price for these games are that they will run on Linux, Mac and Windows. It amazes me that indie developers take the time and effort to make their games cross-platform while huge game companies try to avoid it.
This is the future of gaming! Affordable cross-platform games without DRM.

A small bird tweeted in my ear that a university close to us accepts mature age students; which usually means that you can do a bachelor’s degree if you have enough work experience. This is great for old farts like me who do not have enough education in their backpack to get into a bachelor, but obviously have the life experience that dictates this person is still smart enough.
I contact this university first by phone which was absolutely worthless. The person I talked to seemed to have no clue and it made me wonder what that person actually was doing there. So I sent them an email where I stipulated what I wanted to know. They sent me a very informative reply, but dodged the mature age student question without blinking.
I am still waiting for a reply that I will hope I will get tomorrow. It kind of feels that they are ignoring that email and hoping I will eventually give up on them.

For probably a year ago I gave up on Digg when probably just 5% of the articles I went through on their RSS feed was interesting. Sifting through 95% is just a waste of time. I started to just subscribe to certain web sites I have an interest for. I was also annoyed by some of the comments that the Digg users have become infamous for; a perfect example of everyone online thinks they are an expert.
reddit was suggested to me and I enjoyed it for a while, but I am actually going to kind of take a break from that site too. I do not know for how long, but I think it is because of the time I have spent online and I have reached that point in my life where you have developed a very powerful bollocks radar.
I know this will make me sound like an old fart, but I remember the time where you visited online forums to share knowledge. Now most social networks and forums are infested with experts who know everything. I guess I am tired of defending my views, which are based on facts, not assumptions and personal bias.
‘You are wrong’ and ‘I disagree’ are not arguments.

I seem to also been blessed with a guy on Twitter leaving short snide remarks on certain tweets of mine. Apparently I annoyed him or something and it seems he uses every chance he gets to leave juvenile replies. If you are not following someone, but obviously looking at their feed you are doing it to pick a fight, nothing else. It is also the way he writes the replies. The are very short and non-descriptive. I know twitter only allows 140 characters, but 140 characters is enough to state you disagree with something and why.
Neither am I shocked that he is an abolitionist vegan, as they seem to have very interesting debating techniques.

That is all I care to rant about tonight. I will now spend some time in the World Of Goo.

Well, my existence is a continuum, so I have been what I am at each point in the implied time period.
Bazinga!
