Is a new distro the only solution?

As I learned that my backup was not so successful I have yet again tried to improve my folder structure in my home folder. This will help me to do manual backups instead of relying on software to make backup easier.

I had always made my backups by simply dragging and dropping my home folder on to an external HDD, but eventually thought I would give Grsync a try as it seemed to be an easy, but reliable way to improve the way I backed-up my data.

The problem with relying too much on software to get things done for you is that you become complacent, like I did. When I saw it said the file transfer was 100% completed without errors I foolishly assumed all files were 100% up to date.

Not only with a better folder structure I can more efficiently restore my system if it crashes or I decide to try a new distro.

I just got an account at SUSE Studio and I will soon try my personal LiveCD.
I don’t know what to expect, but if it proves to actually be usable I might consider giving openSUSE another go.
