My Fun Australia is not fun if you have IBS.

What was hoped to be one amazing weekend ended up being a weekend from hell. I don’t see myself going back to Sea World and the Sea World resort anytime soon. Actually, I don’t see myself going back there ever.

Before I start airing my grievances I want to say a few minor things that were kind of positive.
The rides  and animals at Sea World were entertaining, but sadly that was it.

Instead of going into the city it was decided that we would have dinner at the restaurant at Sea World Resort; which was an all you can eat buffet (classy indeed). This cost $80 (breakfast included) each, so you would assume that it would be top quality food, right?
They say ‘assume’ makes and ASS of U and ME.

Lizzie and I are both vegans and on top of that I have IBS.
They had nothing that we could eat, except dry alfalfa sprouts and other boring leaves. We asked if the waitress if the chef could make a vegan meal for us.
We waited for ages for that meal, and when the waitress came out we were handed overcooked spaghetti with heated canned tomato sauce. I’m sure the spaghetti had been in boiling water for at least 15 minutes, most likely 20. And the tomato sauce was probable from some very plain and boring mass-produced can or jar. No effort what so ever was put into our meal, and we paid $80 each for that crap.

Lizzie asked me if I was full after the so-called dinner. I told her that I was ‘full of disappointment’.

The breakfast was a similar let down. Even the baked beans they served was a disaster. Seriously! How can you not be able to make baked beans?
We also had some fruit that was very dry and tasteless. Absolutely not worth $80 a head.

If I eat out I expect to eat food made by someone far more experienced than me. And if I pay $80 for two meals, I expect it to be worthy of being mentioned in the Michelin Guide.
This is not worth mentioning at all, other than letting people know that you will not get your moneys worth at Sea World.

When Lizzie and I go out for dinner, we feel we are splurging if our meal costs us $40 combined. One of our local Thai restaurants one meal will cost you only $13, you will most likely not be able to finish it and the quality is great!

We had the same experience at the Sea World park. All we could eat was hot chips. And I am getting really tired of hot chips here in Australia as they don’t make them the way I like them.

It was lovely when we got home and I could make my own special vegan pasta carbonara; perfectly boiled spaghetti with creamy mushroom sauce. And it probably just cost us $8 for two.
So if you gave me $80 I would probably be able to cook you a five-star five-course meal, and handing you $40 back.

If you are vegan or suffer from IBS or any other type of food allergy/intolerance, do not stay at Sea World Resort. And if you are going to Sea World, pack your own lunch.
