A sober review of a legal high

Last night I decided to write after I had smoked some kind of legal herb called Puff. A very boring and ambiguous name. It is labeled as an incense and the URL printed on the small box is not active anymore. It seems to have listed the “herbs” it is made up off, but tiny pink squiggle letters on purple is far from legible. Still I have no qualms lighting it up. It can’t be worse than anything else I’ve ingested, can it?

I heard about this legal “weed” when I lived in The Netherlands. It became really big in Sweden due to a loophole in the law. The loophole being, the law wasn’t too specific, so herbs imitating weed were technically legal. But having the luxury of being surrounded by legal real weed, I didn’t really bother with it.

If I want to ingest something, I want to know what it is. With these legal highs, be it mock weed or pretend cocaine, you really never know what it is. But because real weed and cocaine is illegal and not produced and sold like any other product on the market, which needs to meet certain standards, you are probably taking  a risk anyway.

So if you want to get high, you might aswell get high on something that is legal?

Of course, you have the option to not get high. If that was an option, we would probably not have these things we call drugs.

If someone wants to get high, let them. If we are going to make it illegal, me might aswell make caffeine, nicotine, alcohol, etc be illegal too.

This Puff herb is okay. After ten minutes or so, having the last puff of the spliff, the high will suddenly kick in. Both times I’ve smoked it I started to laugh. What I’m doing or looking it doesn’t need to be funny, I just sit there with a huge grin, laughing like a mad man for a few minutes. Then the high,  for some odd reason, become really mellow. You will sense that you are still high, but it is very subtle. After a while you might get a bit light-headed. Which is kind of nice if listening to some music, like Shpongle. Yet it is not a substitute for weed. It is a bit more interesting than damiana, but I would smoke weed– legally –any day over this fake weed herb.

What I miss is the very light-headedness weed gives you. And how it can distort your perception of time and sound. With that said, I don’t seem to be “hungover” the day after and my short-term memory seems to be working okay — still remember what I did yesterday. I’ll let you know, down the road, if it brains my hurt.

Legalize it, please!
Marijuana that is.

Yet, I rather get high legally than risking ending up in jail or even deported.

I hate to advocate drugs, alcohol, violence, or insanity to anyone, but they’ve always worked for me.
