Around Shpongolia in a tea daze

As I was walking around the Valley, I noticed one of the few legal headshops in Brisbane. Happy High Herbs, they specialise in legal highs. I’m running low on damiana, so I decided it was high time to get some more, or something different.

The staff showed me a few different herbs. Mostly doing the same thing as damiana, giving you a very, very mild but relaxing high. I told them I had lived in The Netherlands for two years. “What kind of high are you looking for,” one of the staff members asked. Which I replied, “what is the strongest you got?”

Hidden away they had something a bit more potent. Something that is mostly known are synthetic weed. Claimed to give you the same high as marijuana.

Just smoked a spliff with that stuff. It gives you the giggles and you feel kind of high, in a different way. Time is not distorted and my shot-term memory seems to be intact the day after. Second time I smoke this stuff.

It gives me a better high than damiana, but it’s definitely not marijuana. Not even close. A THC high tends to be more trippy.

With that said, it is a nice legal high. It will not land me in jail or any kind of trouble. I could toke up while the police were watching. However, it is not better than the real stuff.

And I do not what this synthetic stuff is. Is it one kind of herb or is it many different herbs having some kind of symbiotic effect? When I smoked marijuana in The Netherlands I knew exactly what I was inhaling. With this stuff, I might aswell smoke mercury. Actually, not really, because I know what mercury can do to me. All I know about this “herb” is that it gets me legally high.

At the moment I’m just floating steadily over the mountains. Nice and relaxing, but nothing spectacular. The first sentences I was almost giggling my head off. Not as trippy listening to Shpongle as when high on THC.

Yet it is legal to drink yourself stupid on alcohol.

Humans are odd creatures.
