I tend to experience that too.

I guess it can be comparable to a lecture. Someone that believes in creationism would never be successful at a science focused university. So very often it depends on your crowd. But if that crowd are your friends, it can be tiring to not be taken serious. Maybe discuss certain topics with like-minded people.

The same I rarely discuss journalism with those who are not. It's not to alienate or that I think they are dumb, is that a lot of people who are not familiar with a topic will always challenge facts with presumptions, which they think are facts. Some are willing to let go of these presumptions, but some aren't. Holding this attitude, how dare you know more than me, even if you are in the business and I'm not.

The brief answer, pick your audience. :)

Hey, I'm not a nerd or anything, but I am still an introvert. Therefore I tend to listen almost 80% of the time. When I finally find a silence to fit my words into, no one seems to want to listen to me. I'm just guessing that it's because when I tell a story I tell it exactly how it is and matter of factually. For this people laugh at me and never take me seriously like whatever I'm saying is out of context and absurd. Trying to find a way to fix it.....

These people are parasites and the companies they work for are parasites.

They want you to go on a direct debit scheme - however, the collection company takes the first 15 to 18 months of donations before the charity sees a single cent.

I always engage them when they want to talk to me, simply asking them "Are you a volunteer?" When they answer "No", I simply walk away.

If they try to press the issue, I then happily blast them with the morally disgusting statistics of how long they and their company soaks up the money before the charity sees it.

They should be ashamed of themselves.

this is so far from late i might be on time ... get a hat that says 'im mindin my business, please do the same'.

guess this is a message for future readers --- sorry, just found this gem & enjoyin readin the comments on this fine article. Wishin i were around more people like us. Sites like this that have comments from many are hittin my pleasure centers so much i think my face has expression -- somethin that EVry1 likes to say about me >>"you have no expression, I can't figure out what you are thinking or feeling".

Welp, oh well >>> maybe I don't want any1 to know what im im thinking/feeling, lol -- mostly cuz it is annoyance at them for caring so much what is going through my mind. Can't a girl have some privacy? Just cuz They need to vent evry 5 secs doesn't mean i need to. I will never face, space, tweet, or greet any social networks that involve low-substance chit-chat.

The Vast majority of produers really don't know where to start when they start off creating beats. The cold hard simple fact is that a greater part of the producers use overpriced music development software to create their beats and newbies have difficult picking up on the actual knowledge neccesary to master how to produce music. It shouldn't be that challenging tho. Regardless of whether an individual is attemping to make rap beats, hip hop, or make dubstep beats, I believe that it simply normally requires time as well as practice and endurance. Working at it helps make you a far better producer.

Hello, Mr. Xen,

I'm an introvert and I've encountered these situations I don't know how many times. It's very frustrating. One thing I encounter most often is being bugged while reading a book. I feel like exploding when someone talks and talks while I get distracted and read the same sentence over and over. I tell them straight out that I'm reading and whatever they want can wait until later. That doesn't always work though. Thanks for the article! I know someone who needs to see it. They refuse to acknowledge that I'm an introvert. It's so frustrating. :|

I think the name .random[oid] fit's this blog perfectly, but I'm afraid it's a bit too random. So instead I will use it as a Portfolio and a place to post longer columns that have been commissioned, but for some reason never got published due to editorial decisions.

While the new blog will focus more on me and my life as a journo. Which has got more followers than I expected and seems to be slowly growing nicely upwards.

And I always focus on doing my own stuff. Either write a column based on my own experiences or opinions, or writing an article about a recent event I witnessed or became part of for some reason (luckily was there or was asked to look into it by an editor). So yeah, I try to get as close as I possibly can, even if it means I have to step on toes, so I can report the truth.

I like aggregation... I like a lot... If your blog is pushing >200 words, what limits are you expecting to put on randomiod? You'll be hard pressed to put out much volume alone. Choose your sources wisely if you aggregate the aggregators I will not read... Aggregation is at least tertiary source, and each step journalism takes from the primary source is a step in the wrong direction. Get as close to the real thing as you can!
